Energy infrastructure under attack in the region
The country's energy systems have faced escalating attacks in the past few days

Overnight, Moscow's missile and drone strikes have resulted in blackouts in large parts of Ukraine's capital, the Ukrainian capital.

Nine people were injured while residents in the city's east were left without electricity and faced problems to water systems, as stated by city officials.

At the same time, a young boy was lost their life in a separate assault in the Zaporizhzhia region in the southeastern part, as reported by regional authorities.

Moscow has escalated assaults on electrical systems over the last fortnight, while officials has demanded "concrete actions" from partner nations to apply pressure on Moscow.

"What is required is not superficial actions but firm measures - from the United States, European nations and the Group of Seven - in delivering protection systems and applying restrictions," was stated in a social media post.

Officials stated that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and more than 30 missiles struck energy facilities, describing such assaults as "premeditated" and against "everything that sustains normal life" as winter approaches.

Government representatives said Russia was "launching a major assault" and maintenance teams were working to fix the damage.

A series of attacks hit energy infrastructure and civilian homes in the capital.

Several of the people hurt in the strikes on the capital have been taken to hospital, as confirmed by municipal representatives.

Regional authorities said the urban area came under intense attacks during nighttime hours. A seven-year-old child was killed and several individuals were hurt.

The assaults succeed nights of aerial attacks in the area, sections of which are currently controlled by Moscow's military.

All of Ukraine is on alert for sophisticated projectile assaults, which are tougher to spot.

Authorities told the media that Russia was purposely seeking to demolish the national power system, with attacks already affecting fuel infrastructure.
